Prometheus custom

This custom Prometheus took so long to complete I thought it would never get done. The culprit: those raised bump-thingies were the bane of my existence for 2 months till I found a stash of them at Borders and was saved. the base is a JLA Superman which I smoothed over with resin and sculpted the ankle guards, the helmet and shoulder pads. I cut heavy-gauge vinyl for the wrist pads and hand pads and found parts in my parts box for the helmet goodies and belt packets. The cape is from an unknown DC Direct figure as is the grill front of the helmet. After the figure was painted and sealed, I glued the bumps on and painted them a shiny gold. The staff weapon is assorted parts glued together and painted over with a black wash.

180 yr. old Jesus statue restoration

This was an interesting job that came my way awhile back through my buddy Cat. He had a friend that needed some repairs made to a 180 year old religious statue that he had brought back from Mexico but had gotten damaged during the transport. Since I had done some repairs for Cat, he recommended me and I met the client and his mother who told me about the piece. The 1st thing that struck me was the pristine condition of the statue. There wasn't a speck of dust or dirt on it and the color was bright and colorful. Apparently the reason it was in such good shape is that it was in an air-tight display case and never removed for 180 yrs (!). The statue was about 2 ft. tall and we suspect it was made of paper mache with wooden head and hands. The fingers had been snapped off during transport and needed to be reattached and made to look like it hadn't broken. I did a little research on statue restoration and talked with a few guys at Hollywood hardware, who I trust with my life. I glued the fingers back on with wood glue and patched up the seams with some wood filler (the smoother, the better). After it had dried overnight, I sanded it with light sand paper and painted it with gouache paints to match the existing skin tones. Overall, the client was quite pleased and wants me to repair a few more pieces and I can add restoration to my growing list of marketable skills. Click on the image to see a larger view.

sexy Wonder Woman custom

This is from a series of figures I'm doing that uses the Adult Superstar figures as various comic book heroines. As usual, I had to smooth over the boots and sculpt the bracelets, tiara and eagle on her chest. The bikini bottom is spare pieces from the Kingdom Come WW and I used a piece of gold twine for the string.

Ultra Pop store sign

My pal Paulie just sent over a nice shot of the brand new Ultra Pop! store sign that was hung a few days ago. This is the first time I've had a logo design made into lighted signage and I'm very pleased with how it came out. Ultra Pop! opens next weekend in Louisville, KY.

Red Star custom

This is a Teen Titans Red Star custom using an Infinite Crisis Alexander Luthor as the base. The entire body had to be smoothed over with resin and the collar & bootflaps had to be sculpted as well. I used a visor from a recent Booster Gold and handpainted the star in his chest.

Damage custom

This is a modern JSA Damage using the JLA Superman body for a base. I first clipped off the hair curl and belt buckle which I then smoothed over with resin along with the "S". I used a custom decal for the biohazard symbol and cut vinyl for the wrist bands.

Lady Lunar custom

I used a Huntress base for the villainous Lady Lunar and started off by clipping off her ear points and smoothing over her skullcap with resin. Next, I cut a small piece of vinyl for her collar and sculpted her hair to look more on-model to the cartoon. The rest is paint and Dullcote.

Golden Age Flash custom

I'd been wanting to do this custom for sometime and after buying a loose lot of figures recently I got my wish. I smoothed over the boots and shoulders with resin and fixed the hole on his head from removing the hair curl. I had a Flash helmet in my parts box and some head wings from a Flash for the boots. The lightning bolt is hand painted.

Damage custom

This was basically a repaint and a custom decal for the biohazard sign. I clipped off the ear pieces and smoothed it over with resin.
